	farmer by trade. Married Elizabeth Wilde 02 DEC 1779 at the First Reformed Church of Rhinebeck, NY. She was born 15 MAR 1757 in Clinton Township, Duchess County, NY and died in 1841 in Rochester, Monroe County, NY. John died 26 JUN 1834 in Rochester, Monroe County, NY. He served six years in the Revolutionary War in the Army as an enlisted from 27 OCT 1777 to 07 JUN 1782, at which time he deserted. Participated in the battles of Saratoga and Brooklyn. Member of the 1st battalion, 1st NY regiment NY militia. On 19 APR 1790 he moved to Ferrisburg, Addison County, Vermont. By 1797 he owned 120 acres. Became a borderline Quaker of the Society of Friends by 1792.
