Has Taken an Active Interest in the Work of the G.A.R. -- Served Four Years in the Regular Army

J. B. Coyle, an old resident of this county and a well known veteran of the Civil War, died this morning at his home on Prospect Heights. Mr. Coyle was an old inhabitant of the suburb district he lived in at the time of his death. He was the father of J.H. Coyle, one of the pioneer mill owners of Walla Walla Valley.

Mr. Coyle was 76 years old, and would have been 77 January 4. He was born in Worcester, Mass., served in the 31st Wisconsin Infantry from August, 1862, till the close of the great Civil War. The aged veteren has been feeble for years and his death was the result of a complication of disease and of troubles growing out of the wounds that he received during the war. He has been a resident of this county for 14 years.

The funeral services will be held at the Mountain View Methodist Church and will take place at 2 o'clock tomorrow. He leaves his wife, a son, J.H. Coyle and a daughter, Clara M. Brown.
