From Mpls Jnl., Feb 17, 1908, 6:2 J. E. TRUESDELL PASSES AWAY Former Old and Well Known Resident of Owatonna Passes Away at His Home in Minneapolis. Had Been Sick Since Taking Cold at Funeral of Relative in Kasson - Funeral on Wednesday. The people of this city and county will be greatly shocked and grieved to learn of the death of J. E. Truesdell, a former old and well known resident of this city, which took place at his home in Minneapolis Sunday evening. Details are not available at this time, but it is known that Mr. Truesdell caught a severe cold while attending the funeral of a relative at Kasson on December 24th, and was sick for some weeks thereafter. It is therefore surmised that his death was the result of the illness, in some degree. Mr. Truesdell's two daughters, Mrs. Carlton Brown of Bryn Mawr, and Mrs. Harry Reynolds of Walla Walla, Washington, were with him a few days before his death. Mr. Truesdell was a prominent resident of Owatonna for may yars and was a man of considerable property. At one time he owned a large interest in the Owatonna Journal, in partnership with his son, the late A. J. Truesdell. He was a keen business man and a favorite socially with both old and young. He was a leading member of the Congregational church and active in all its work. His death will be regarded with profound regret by a host of friends in the city and county. It is stated that the funeral will take place in Minneapolis Wednesday afternoon, but at this time it is not known wheter the remains will be brought to this city for interment. If they are, the Masons will probably have charge of the obsequies, as Mr. Truesdell was a member of Cyrene Commandery, Knights Templar. (SOURCE: Jean Crump)
